Highbrow Lowbrow: Wing Earrings
This post marks the beginning of a new category on DMD that is dedicated to showing my darlings how to achieve certain looks or trends regardless of the size of your piggy banks. In general, I find that what you spend on a piece of jewelry is usually a pretty close indicator of the quality of the workmanship and materials. However, there are always trends that I am extremely keen on in the moment that don’t have much longevity. In such situations, a low financial commitment makes me feel better about the indulgence. The reverse has also happened; I’ve picked up a trendy piece of jewelry and fallen head over heels in love and then I either upgrade to more of an investment piece or I use the piece as inspiration for a design that I make out of precious metal and stones. Either way, there is plenty of room to play.
I became obsessed with winged earrings a while ago because they are so flattering for any face shape. I then had dinner with a super-stylish girlfriend last week and she was rocking this fabulous pair of wings (not shown here); needless to say, my eyes glazed over and I couldn’t stop staring at them. Thus, I launched my mission to find winged earrings for all. Oh the things these do for your face (read my post on airbrushing with earrings here)! It’s a revelation.
