One Dress, 27 Looks: # 11 and 12 Day to Evening
Going home to change before dinner or evening social activities has become a luxury of the past (for me at least). When I was a corporate lawyer, I used to keep shoes, bags and changes of clothes in my office filing cabinets, and a black tie dress hanging behind my door. Nowadays it’s no different. When I’m in NYC I’m generally going from meeting to meeting and packing in catch-up sessions with as many friends as I can, so going back to the apartment to change is out of the question.
If you know me at all you’ll know that I hate to schlep! Nothing is worse than carrying a 40 pound bag around all day, its painful, terrible for your posture and just looks like so much effort! That’s another thing I really can’t stomach–looking like you’ve put in effort. Now don’t misunderstand, I believe in hard work and dedication, but I wholeheartedly support the notion of working your ass off WITHOUT looking like a schlub. How to cope then? I find my best strategy is to have a flexible outfit that I can change from day-wear to evening-wear by adding or taking away accessories.
So here are looks 11 and 12:
Dress, Vivienne Westwood
Baroque glasses in white, Prada
Belt, Fendi
Feather and fur vest, Haute Hippie
Cropped Leather Leggings, Vince
Diplille peeptoe platform pumps, Stuart Weitzman
Earrings and cuff, Fallon
Looks 11 and 12 could carry me all day, at most, I would keep a pair of diamond studs in my clutch (I always carry a medium-sized clutch regardless of day or evening) for day, swap them for statement earrings in the evening and pop the sunnies in the bag (I NEVER wear sunnies at night, it looks preposterous and contrived = effort).
Big Kiss and Bigger Diamonds,
JZP
