One Dress, 27 Looks: #13 Kyoto Kimonos
During a trip to Kyoto a few years ago I discovered that vintage children’s’ kimonos make fabulous little jackets! Kyoto, unlike Tokyo, is much more rooted in Japanese history–geishas and tea ceremonies are still de rigueur whereas Tokyo embraces a much more modern pace. Hence there is a better selection of vintage kimonos in Kyoto. I prefer children’s’ kimonos from the 50′s-70′s because the prints are much more colorful and playful and their size lends themselves easily to being worn as little jackets.
